Description
xterm won't start - error message: Cannot perform malloc
I have no idea what what causes this at this point.
I've tried some patches from the Buildroot commits but they didn't get xterm to start. Out of frustration I looked to see if I could find another terminal program. The rxvt project is still in active development. It has few dependencies and is very lightweight. I did a test build on my build box and it went fine. So I created a Buildroot package for it based on the xterm package. Oddly enough, it built the first time I tried it. I changed the call to xterm in the xinitrc in the rootfs to rxvt and booted the rootfs. It also worked the first time.
I now have a terminal working under BeagleBox. I can close this issue since I can just drop the use of xterm.
