This issue tracks interesting hardware to consider for use with PiBox and it's associated projects.

Keep this issue open and at the bottom of the highest priority list currently in progress.

Hardware¶

1. PinePhone from Pine64.org (in progress - see Xeon project.)
2. WaveShare displays for Raspberry Pi. Lots of interesting options here.
   1. WaveShare displays each have a wiki entry that points to supporting software. OLED's use an ST chip and have a C library that depends on the libbcm2835 library.
   2. Waveshare also have Hats and Cameras to consider.
3. OLED displays @ Adafruit
   1. SS_OLED library for SH1106/SSD1306 displays (Adafruit)
   2. OLED hookup guide, uses python for software but has diagram for hardware hookup. Also has links to places to get OLED displays. eBay and Amazon are cheap. Adafruit is more expensive.
4. Pine64 Air Mouse is a keyboard shaped like a TV remote. It's way cheaper than the FAVI's I've been using though the arrow keys are Ctrl-<key> which may make it difficult to use.
5. ZeroTerminal3 is like an old PDA that is a full computer. It's design might make it useful in Xeon.
6. Precursor is like an old PDA that uses an FPGA to allow different uses. Might be useful to Xeon is ARM images are available for FPGA.
7. ESP32-CAM, and associated DIY video
8. BME680 breakout provides temperature, pressure, humidity, and indoor air quality sensors in an small form factor using SPI.
9. PiKVM - a variation of this would be a simple network controlled power switch for multiple outlets. A single ESP32 manages a 4- or 8-port relay via an Ironman monitor.
10. Arducam - mipi csi camera modules (like phone cameras) for Raspberry Pi. Might work with raspistill but would be better if it worked with omxplayer, ffmpeg and/or mjpeg-streamer.
11. PiCam - general setup on Raspbian for CSI attached cameras.
12. PiBox Storage Server - storage system I didn't create and who I talked to about naming - they're sending me sample hardware. Update: they never sent it.
13. WiFi Security Camera
    1. Based on ESP32-CAM Development Board
    2. ESP32 Camera motion capture application

14. PiSniffer - USB Sniffer (MITM device)
15. SATA3 stackable HD tray with SATA-to-USB adapter and a mountable USB hub.

Software¶

1. ustreamer is an alternative to mjpeg-streamer that might offer higher frame rates due to HW acceleration on the Pi.
2. Bluez-alsa for BT on RPi, given that omxplayer apparently does support Alsa since 2017 (how did I miss that?).
