Feature #248
closedConfigure Samba so Android can mount media from PiBox Media Server
100%
Description
The ES File Explorer can operate as an Samba client. Since smbd/nmbd are running already on the media server, I just need to know how to configure them so Android can see them.
This will probably require some template setup that can be updated every time the network config changes.

Cool! Found a simple smb.conf file configuration that works perfectly with ES File Explorer on my Android phone to share media files from USB sticks on the PiBox Media Server. Woohoo!
Simplistic config is attached. Probably not secure but it's at least a working prototype. It will be pushed upstream shortly.
This file is being added to the skeleton directory for the PiBox Development Platform. It exposes /media as read-only for all guests.

Before closing this out I thought I'd note some links I reviewed to configure smb.conf.

Pushed config file upstream. Will verify next rootfs build picks it up and it works as expected.

This appears to work but the USB stick doesn't automount when inserted on a new build because /media was missing. See RM #262.

Verified working on 0.7.0 although the USB stick doesn't mount unless you remove and insert it again after boot. That's a different issue.
Closing this issue.
