Description

I have three small TFT displays that are not in use right now, but which I believe I can integrate now that lcdshow is working well by installing custom dtb overlays.

The three displays are
  1. Pi TFT28 Shield from Texy
  2. "Adafruit 2.8 Capacitive Touchscreen TFT
    1. Might work with the same lcd-show setup at the Texy model
  3. 3.5 inch Display-F XPT2046
    1. This one might just work with the current lcdshow config

3.5 inch Display-F XPT2046 tested with current LCD35 setup in lcdshow package. It works fine as is. No changes required.

First attempt at porting the 2.8" configuration failed - neither display comes up. But the build was easily modified to grab the bits I needed. I just need to verify I pulled in all the parts I really need, like the overlays and X.org configuration.

One side affect: Builds for different display sizes will require different packages based on setting MODEL=LCD<> on the build command line.

After fiddling with a variety of dtb overlays (the Adafruit display should use the pitft28-resistive, which you can see if you view the DTS in arch/arm/boot/dts/overlay/pitft28-resistive-overlay.dts) I was not able to get the 2.8" displays working. Not that it matters much. Those small displays are not much less expensive than the HDMI's now and the 3.5 fits the Pi form factor perfectly.

So I'll mark this as closed. As long as I can keep getting those Pi3 and Pi4 displays w/enclosure from Amazon, I don't need the 2.8" displays for PiBox systems.
