In addition to the Raspberry Pi B 2 that I have, I just ordered an ESP8266 development board, a 7" multitouch screen for the RPiB2, and a USB to serial dev cable

Can you add links to your orders, for comparison?
I got these:I haven't actually used the FTDI with the ESP8266 but I'm pretty sure it would work via a breadboard. I've used it with my Arduino Pro Mini.
I don't have the touchscreen yet.
